One Day I

2005 · Jalapeno Records

Manchester based singer songwriter Ian Britt releases his debut album "One Day I...". This release follows on from a limited edition 7” of Take The Pain, subsequent EP ‘Diamond in the Rough’ and Life Ain’t Made single released on Jalapeno.

In the time honoured tradition of artists and bands from the north of England, Ian Britt has written some of the most emotional music we are likely to hear this year, music which defies current trends and relies instead on traditional song writing talent to produce timeless songs.

Waste Another day is the opening track of the album and sets the tone with contemporary blues delivered with a cheeky northern grin. Lyrically it’s lighthearted and shows a relaxed confidence that can only really be captured in the context of a great pop song.

The exuberance of Life Ain’t Made, Free and Waste Another Day are balanced on the album by the more delicate emotional tracks, Fallen Angel and Overtones being two in particular that can hush a busy room when Ian performs one of his powerful acoustic sets.

Life Ain't Made

2001 · Jalapeno Records

Singer songwriter Ian Britt releases his second single ‘Life Ain’t Made’ on Jalapeno Records. Twinned with a re-worked B Side of the Talking Heads classic ‘Road To Nowhere’ Britt’s first commercial single release follows on from a limited edition 7” and subsequent EP ‘Diamond in the Rough’.

Ian Britt has written some of the most innovative music we are likely to hear this year, music which defies current trends and relies instead on traditional song writing talent to produce timeless songs.

On first listen, Life Ain’t Made could be mistaken for an upbeat track, but further listens reveal the true lyrical nature of the song. Britt has chosen to couple the single with ‘Road To Nowhere’ taking the original lyrics and placing them over a darker, more melancholic sound.

Open Sea

2001 · Jalapeno Records

Ian Britt releases his third single ‘Open Sea’ on Jalapeno Records. Backed with an unreleased track “Simple” this is the first single since releasing his critically acclaimed album “One day I…”.

Where his previous single Life Ain’t Made allowed the showman in Ian to come to forefront with brash pop hooks and jangling guitars, Open Sea reveals the other side of his personality with delicate melodies and the confidence of a songwriter for whom talking and singing about his feelings is an essential part of his being.

The B side Simple is also a live favourite – an everyman track that revels in the simple pleasures in life and puts a smile on the faces of those who have been lucky enough to hear it – previously limited to his record company and his gig audiences.
